Karratha’s own Royce Castano sets official Guinness World Record at Karratha Indoor Golf
Big news for local golf fans and the whole Karratha community! Earlier this year, Royce Castano, a dedicated local golfer, officially made it into the Guinness World Records right here at Karratha Indoor Golf.
Royce achieved the record for the highest number of virtual golf holes played in 24 hours. His final tally? An incredible 720 holes, completed in just 22 hours on our Trackman golf simulators. His effort beat the previous record of 702 holes, which had been set in Illinois only last year.
A marathon of endurance and community spirit
Royce’s challenge wasn’t for glory alone, he dedicated the attempt to raising vital funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, an organisation that means so much to people living and working across regional WA.
Supporters came together throughout the 24-hour event to log each hole played, provide encouragement, and help keep spirits high as Royce powered through thousands of swings. His world record bid was also live-streamed, connecting with golf fans far beyond Karratha and raising over $7,000 for the cause.
Pushing the limits and already eyeing the next one!
Smashing a world record is no small feat. In total, Royce swung a golf club over 3,000 times, shed two kilos in sweat alone, and pushed through physical fatigue to finish strong. Despite the aches and pains that came with such an effort, he’s already hinted he might do it all again aiming for 750 holes next time around.
A local legend
Royce’s dedication also holds a special place in Karratha Indoor Golf’s story. As our very first member, he’s been part of our journey since day one, so it was only fitting that our facility became the site of his world-record challenge.
We’re proud to have supported him every step of the way and to have hosted an event that brought our community together for a good cause. Seeing our venue full of local faces, competitions, raffles, and cheers for Royce made the 24-hour fundraiser one for the books literally!
